*District 1 in Ellington was selected at random by the Secretary of State's Office for an audit.*
The purpose of the audit is to assure that the scanner-tabulator is accurately counting the ballots that were properly marked. Each election, 5% of the districts in Connecticut are designated for an audit. A random public drawing was held in the Ellington Town Clerk's Office to select three races that will be counted by hand during the audit. The races selected were the First Selectman, Board of Education, and the Zoning Board of Appeals.

The Ellington Registrars of Voters will hold the audit to hand-count these approximately 2,300 ballots at the Town Hall Annex on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, beginning at 9:00 am. The audit is open to the public.
