As of October 1, 2003, the State of Connecticut passed a law stating that premarital blood tests are no longer required in order to obtain a marriage license.
As of October 1, 2009, couples can only obtain their license in the town where the marriage will occur. There is no waiting period after applying for your license.
When applying for a license, you must both appear. Please be prepared to answer questions about where you were born, the full name of your parents, where they were born, the place and time of the wedding, and who will be performing the ceremony. The ceremony must be performed within 65 days from the date of application. Please bring proper identification, such as a driver's license or picture ID. The cost of a marriage license is $50.
