Plan of Conservation & Development Update

PLAN OF CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT

COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW AND UPDATE PROJECT 2018

GENERAL INFORMATION

Local efforts are underway to update Ellington’s Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD/Plan).  The Plan is a long-range document that guides land use, development patterns, preservation strategies, and capital investments for infrastructure and community facilities for the next decade.  The update process analyzes where we are today, where we want to be in the future, and identifies strategies for realizing Plan recommendations.

The Ellington Planning Department, the Plan Update Committee and East Hartford-based consultant Goman & York is overseeing the project.  The Plan Update Committee consists of nine resident volunteers representing the Planning and Zoning Commission, Economic Development Commission, Conservation Commission, Inland Wetlands Agency, Water Pollution Control Authority and Park and Recreation Commission.  Meetings of the Plan Update Committee are generally held on the first Thursday of each month at 7PM in the Town Hall Annex, unless otherwise scheduled.  Recommendations from local boards, commissions, administration and citizens will formulate Plan updates.  There are various was to be involved.  Please attend a Plan Update Committee meeting or send written comments to the Town Planner.

You may stay informed with the project by visiting the Town of Ellington’s Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/townofellington, by visiting the Plan of Conservation and Development webpage through the Planning Department on the Town’s website http://ellington-ct.gov, or by contacting the Town Planner’s Office.
