Budget is Passed at Referendum!

2018-19 Budget

The 2018-2019 Budget passed at referendum yesterday, with 362 YES and 308 NO.

The Board of Finance voted last night to set the mill rate at 31.7 mills.

This represents a ZERO % increase.

Lori Spielman, First Selectman, would like to thank the residents who took the time to come out to the Public Hearing, the Annual Town Budget Meeting, and the many meetings held throughout the process, before coming out to cast their vote yesterday. Also, thanks very much to the individuals who worked hard on this budget over the past five months: the Capital Improvements Committee, Board of Selectmen, Board of Finance, Board of Education, Town Department Heads and Town employees, especially the Finance Department.

As always, all Budget information is available on the Town website at ellington-ct.gov. If you haven’t done so already, please be sure to sign up for notifications on the website under “Notify Me”. You’ll have options to choose what you want to see via email, text message or both. All meetings and referendum information is shared on our Town website and is also communicated through “Notify Me”, Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram). The Public Hearing, the Annual Town Meeting and the Referendum are all posted in the Journal Inquirer, and signage is posted throughout Town.
