Notice of Referendum

May 28, 2019


Any person who is an elector of the Town, and any United States citizen of the age of Eighteen years or more who, jointly or severally, is liable to the Town for taxes on an Assessment of not less than one thousand dollars on the last completed grand list of the Town are hereby warned to meet at the ELLINGTON SENIOR CENTER polling place in said Town of Ellington on Tuesday, May 28th  2019 to cast their ballot for a vote on the following question, pursuant to Connecticut General Statute Section 7-7, Section 1106 of the Town Charter, and the Adjourned Town Meeting of May 14, 2019.

 

“SHALL THE TOWN OF ELLINGTON APPROPRIATE, AS RECOMMENDED 

AND AS ALLOCATED BY THE BOARD OF FINANCE, THE TOTAL SUM FOR

ALL EXPENDITURES, A/K/A BUDGET GRAND TOTAL FOR 

THE FISCAL YEAR 2019-2020, $60,738,684?”

  •  Voters approving said question will vote “YES”.
  • Those opposing said question will vote “NO”.

Registered voters may make application for Absentee Ballots, in person only, in the Town Clerk’s Office at 55 Main Street, Ellington, CT.

Absentee Ballots will be available May 16th through May 24th, during normal business hours in the Town Clerk’s Office.

Absentee Ballots will be counted at the Ellington Senior Center.

Taxpayers who are not electors will vote at the Ellington Senior Center.

The polls will be opened at six o’clock (6:00 a.m.) in the morning and will remain open until eight o’clock (8:00 p.m.) in the evening.

Notice is hereby given that the location of the polling place is as follows:

Ellington Senior Center, 40 Maple Street, Ellington, Connecticut.
