Ellington Housing Authority (EHA), an agency of the Town created by the Board of Selectmen in 1967, is responsible for management of Snipsic Village; a 42 unit state-financed elderly housing facility located at 20 Main Street, Ellington, CT.  In 1968, 30 units in 5 buildings, with 6 apartments each were constructed and occupied. Attached to one of the buildings is a Community building and office.  In 1980, an additional 12 units in 3 buildings with 4 apartments each were opened. The Community Building and offices were enlarged in 2005.

The Board employs a part-time staff of three to manage day-to-day activities such as apartment and grounds maintenance, rentals & rent collection, financial record keeping, budget preparation and oversight, as well as assisting residents with matters pertaining to health insurance needs, energy assistance and renter's rebate.

Admission:
Persons interested in applying for an apartment must meet eligibility requirements: age 62 and above or certified handicapped/disabled.  If eligible, applicants must submit an application (see below) to be added to the waiting list.  Applications are ranked by date received and other factors pertaining to degree of need.  Current residents of the Town of Ellington are afforded some preference.
