Absentee ballots are available to eligible voters for any election, primary or referenda and are available through the Town Clerk's office.

Absentee ballots for a referendum vote are available in person only. State law does not allow mailing of absentee ballots for a referendum vote.

Any qualified voter unable to vote due to the following reasons may obtain an Absentee Ballot:

  • Illness or physical disability
  • Absence from town during all election hours
  • Religious beliefs forbidding secular activity on election day
  • Serving as an election official at a polling place other than their own
  • Active service in the Armed Forces

After the completed Application for Absentee Ballot Form is returned to us at 55 Main Street, PO Box 187, Ellington, Ct 06029 we will send a ballot and instructions to you as soon as State Law allows. We must receive the voted ballot back in our office by election day in order for the vote to count.
