The First Selectman is elected every two years and acts as the Chief Administrative and Executive Officer of the municipality and is directly responsible to the Board of Selectmen. The First Selectman is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Town Government.  

The responsibilities of this position include overseeing the execution of all of the laws, ordinances and policies governing the Town, development and execution of the annual operating and capital budgets and communications with the Board of Selectmen, the various boards and commissions and the Town Staff.
