During the first week of September, each resident should have received a brochure providing information on the Senior Center. When completed in early 2014, you will be excited to see the space that will be available to support the programs, activities and services for seniors age 60 and above in Ellington. In the brochure, information was provided regarding the furniture, fixtures and equipment that needs to be purchased for the facility. There was a Town Meeting where very valuable input was shared from attendees on their desires for the new Senior Center. In pricing out the needed items, it was learned that it could cost up to $200,000 to properly furnish the new Senior Center.
We need your help in raising the funds necessary to make those purchases. As you saw in the Senior Center brochure, there is a Supporting Senior Life Giving Tree that will be displayed in the Information Center located near the entrance to the building. It will recognize all individuals, families, companies and organizations that make a gift of $300 or more during the three-year Capital Campaign. All donors will be recognized in a Book of Giving that will be on display in the same location. This is a great time to make your contribution to the Ellington Senior Center Building Fund in order to be eligible for the 2012 tax deduction.
The Senior Center Steering Committee members have been working earnestly to promote fundraising opportunities through the "Supporting Senior Life" campaign. Click here to view the informational brochure that shows a diagram of the inside of the building, the "Tree of Life" and ways individuals, business, and foundations may contribute to the new Senior Center building that is a reflection upon our community.
