N.E. Chapter American Public Works Association

A very successful National APWA Public Works Expo (PWX) was held in Minneapolis, MN in August of 2016. The PWX is a great professional learning opportunity for all members of the public works community. We wanted to congratulate Kevin Gambacorta and Taylor Olson who received full scholarships to attend the conference. The NEAPWA Chapter offers the opportunity for scholarships each year. Kevin and Taylor wrote very thoughtful essays regarding their public works careers and were chosen as this year’s scholarship recipients.

A few excerpts from their essays: “ I am always striving to do my best and looking for ways to improve and grow the department. I want to Identify and understand the current and future needs of the Town of Ellington. It is my desire to be a Leader that provides direction and motivation but is willing to listen and take advice.” ~ Taylor Olson, Lead Mechanic – Town of Ellington

“Through hard work and great opportunities, I have been able to advance my position from Laborer 1 to Assistant Foreman in twelve years. I work in the town where I was born and would someday love to be the Public Works Director in my town.” ~ Kevin Gambacorta, Assistant Foreman – Town of Ellington

The chapter also wanted to congratulate Tim Webb, the Public Works Director in the Town of Ellington for being honored with the 2016 NEAPWA Chapter Member of the Year award.

 Great job Town of Ellington!
